TASTE OF OSU

OSU international scholars, employees, and their families are invited to Taste of OSU and Late Night Carnaval. Taste of OSU features international food and cultural exhibits provided by OSU international student organizations, followed by Late Night Carnaval with dancing to the best world and top 40 music, dance contests and exhibitions, children's activities, and arts and crafts. The event will be held on Friday, February 11 at the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High Street. Taste of OSU will take place from 6-9 p.m. and Late Night Carnaval is scheduled for 9-11 p.m. Admission of $1 and food tickets are available for purchase at the event.

2004 TAX INFORMATION

USA tax forms for 2004 must be filed by April 15, 2005. Information about taxes and tax preparation is available on the OIE website. Click on scholars and then on taxes. (Please note that the website will be updated in the next two weeks to include information about how to access CINTAX tax preparation software.)

GLOBAL SCHOOL BUS PROGRAM

The Global School Bus program is looking for volunteers to talk about their country and their culture to Columbus area students in preschool through grade 12 classrooms. If you'd like to volunteer for this important program, contact Jenny Spolnik 292-6053.

TRIP TO CHICAGO

OIE is sponsoring the 2nd annual Spring Break Trip to Chicago. OSU international scholars are invited to join the group which will visit and explore Chicago from March 19-March 22. Included in the price of the trip are travel to and from Chicago, three nights't accommodation, unlimited travel on Chicago's bus and train system, entrance to the Hancock Observatory, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, and the Museum of Science and Industry. The fee does not include meals and souvenirs. There are limited spaces available for this trip, so register early. The price is $215, payable at the OIE front desk - checks made out to The Ohio State University. There is a non-refundable $50 deposit if a participant withdraws within 30 days of departure. SKI TRIP

OSU's Outdoor Adventure Center is offering a backcountry ski trip in Jackson, Wyoming from March 20-26. The trip includes a two-day avalanche awareness course and three days of guided skiing on untracked snow in Grand Teton National Park. Cost for the trip is $1040, which includes transportation, lodging, and equipment. Deadline for sign up is Tuesday, February 15. Participants must be an advanced-intermediate skier or better.
