Announcing.....the International Spouses' Welcome Event!!!!!!

What Is this Special Event? An opportunity to learn about some of the following areas: Things to Do in Columbus, Safety, Healthcare, English Classes, Volunteering Opportunities, Children’s Activities, and much more! International spouses already familiar with Columbus will be sharing their experiences, and all international spouses will have a chance to connect with other spouses. You may meet some new friends!

Who Is Invited? ALL international spouses at OSU are invited. This includes spouses of international students and spouses of international scholars, both male and female spouses. Spouses with all levels of English are welcome to come.

Important Note: This program is designed for newly-arrived international spouses, but is open to ALL spouses. We encourage international spouses who have already been in Columbus for some time to come. We hope you will come help welcome the new international spouses and share what you have learned about living in Columbus.

What about Children? You can bring your children! FREE childcare will be provided at this event. If you have children who are not yet in school, please bring them with you. They will be entertained in a playroom which is part of the larger room where we will be meeting.

When Is this Special Event? The event will be on Friday, October 28th. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m.

Where Is This Welcome Event? We will be meeting in the basement of University Baptist Church. (Note: This church has been kind enough to open their space to us, but this is not a religious event). University Baptist Church is located at 50 West Lane Avenue. This is on the edge of campus, across the street from the OSU dormitory Taylor Tower. Click here for a campus map: http://www.osu.edu/map/building.php?building=taylortower. You will see empty space across the street from Taylor Tower on the map. (This is because that space is not OSU-owned property). University Baptist Church is on West Lane Avenue, next to the Catholic Newman Center. There is a sign on University Baptist Church facing West Lane Avenue, BUT PLEASE GO AROUND THE BUILDING AND ENTER FROM THE PARKING LOT SIDE. There will be signs directing you downstairs to the basement meeting hall.

How Do I Get to the Event? University Baptist Church is near the corner of West Lane Avenue and North High Street. The closest COTA bus stops would be Norwich and North High Street (west side of High Street) and Northwood and North High Street (east side of High Street). You could also call COTA at 292-6122 for directions from your home.

If you are driving, there will be FREE parking. Please note that parking is behind the church. You would need to turn off of North High Street, onto West Norwich Avenue (a one-way street, west-bound). On the corner of North High Street and West Lane Avenue, you will see a CVS Pharmacy. Across from CVS is Lee’s Market. West Norwich Avenue is next to Lee’s Market. The church is behind Lee’s Market. The parking entrance is at 31 West Norwich Avenue. You will see a big house in the front, and a red-brick building behind it. This is University Baptist Church. The phone number of the church is 294-6333. Please park only in the lined spaces at the University Baptist Church. If the parking lot becomes full, please come in the church for directions for additional parking.
