TAKE A TRIP DURING WINTER BREAK TO SEE MORE OF THE U.S.A.

The Department of Recreational Sports and the Outdoor Adventure Center are offering students an opportunity to get away from the classroom grind and enjoy the fresh air and cool breeze on some adventure trips. Two exhilarating winter break trips are planned. You can head south and backpack through the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. From Dec. 13-19, you will hike through creek-laced woodlands and gaining views of mysterious rock glaciers. Or you could ice climb in Ouray, Colorado, from Dec. 15-22, where you will breath in the air at an elevation of 7,800 feet in southwest Colorado. Participants can enjoy active outdoor sports while relaxing in the shadow of numerous 12,000-14,000 foot peaks. These trips are nominally priced at $290 for the seven-day Arkansas backpacking trip; and $420 for the eight-day ice climbing trip. Prices include all equipment, transportation, lodging, and some food. To register, visit the front desk of the Outdoor Adventure Center located in the Adventure Recreation Center at 855 Woody Hayes Drive or the front desk at 106 Larkins Hall. Trips and clinics are open to students, faculty and staff.
