New Gay and Lesbian Asian Fellowship

We are proudly launching a social group, Gay and Lesbian Asian Fellowship
(GLAF). It aims to provide a safe and supportive social environment for
LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning) Asian
Americans and Asian nationals at OSU and in the Columbus community.

Being gay and being Asian can be and are difficult for many of us. We often
face or are afraid of marginalization and stigmatization from both the Asian
community and the gay community. A lot of us tend to think there are no
other gay Asians at OSU or in Columbus. We are here! We would like to come
together to form a social network to support each other, have dialogues, and
explore and embrace this part of our identity.

Our social group has no hierarchy or formal structure. We respect different
levels of comfort and privacy, expect that all of us have questions and
suggestions, and only require mutual respect. It is a social group where all
of us feel safe and comfortable and take initiatives and participate.

To join the group, please sign up at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GLAF/. If you don't have a Yahoo ID, you can
send an email to: GLAF-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. We will have monthly
social gatherings. Announcements of all events will be sent out on our Yahoo
group email list. It is a communication forum for all members. The inaugural
event is planned to be on the last weekend of January 2006, celebrating the
lunar New Year.
