FILM AND RECEPTION
OIE and the Wexner Center for the Arts are co-presenting a screening of
the film "The World" at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 18 in the
Wexner Center Film/Video Theatre, 1871 N. High Street. The film will be
followed by a reception and discussion. A limited number of free
tickets are now available at the OIE front desk, room 100 Oxley Hall.
(Tickets are also available at the Wexner Center box office for $6 ($4
for students.)
"The World" is a Chinese film with English subtitles which looks at
the lives of a group of young people who come to live and work at a
theme park which has displays and performances from the countries of the
world. The film touches on issues which affect everybody -
globalization, digital isolation, relationships. The film's director,
Jia Zhangke, has been called "the world's greatest film maker under
forty."
OSU international scholars, employees, and spouses from all countries
are invited to attend the film as well as the reception and discussion.

THANKSGIVING DINNER
OIE invites OSU international scholars, employees, and their families
and friends to a free, traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving
Day, Thursday, November 24. The dinner will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the
Ohio Union Ballrooms, 1739 N. High Street. (Vegetarian options will be
available.)
The dinner is free, but tickets are required, and are available in room
100 Oxley Hall. Free parking for the dinner will be available in the
Ohio Union Parking Garage. This is a great opportunity to experience
this traditional U.S. meal, and to meet new people and enjoy
conversation. (You may want to bring your camera and have your picture
taken with "Miss Turkey.")
